A donation of between $10 and $20 is requested for all events (except the walking tour, $12)

The Festival remembers German and French immigrants to Toronto who contributed greatly to the city. A special invitation is extended to German and French institutions in the city.

The Festival appreciates the Town of York Historical Society research that has helped to enrich the Festival.

This festival of the world’s finest Organ music welcomes musicians from Canada, Germany and France. It will showcase the Premiere of “Sonata for French horn and Organ” by Canada’s renowned composer Andrew Ager, Music Director at St. James. It will present rarely heard compositions of the Baroque and Romantic by German and French composers in special arrangements for French Horn and Organ.

A newly created walking tour will honour Toronto’s rich 200 year musical history. Toronto historian Bruce Bell will lead “History & Music of Toronto”, on Saturday, July 10, at 10 am.  Meeting Point: St. Lawrence Market, 91 Front St. E / Souvenir Shop / $12

Another excursion will be to Toronto’s oldest Church organ at St. John’s York Mills Anglican Church,  9 Don Ridge Drive, on Sunday July 11, at 4 pm). Established in 1816, St.John’s is the second oldest parish in Toronto. This 1847 instrument with its three inter-changeable barrels of 10 hymn tunes provided the only accompaniment for congregational singing until 1864. Bill Dennis will provide a breathtaking chance to hear this unique instrument. (www.stjohnsyorkmills.com)

On Saturday, July 10, at 3 pm, you can enjoy  hearing Andrew Ager deliver historical and technical insights about the S.R. Warren Organ of 1863/89 at St. James Cathedral, 65 Church St.

The concerts feature Organists and Horn players from the former East German  towns of Cottbus and Goerlitz in Germany  and from the UNESCO heritage site city of Carcassone in France.
